Equestrian Horse Riding

For beginners, equestrian horse riding may be a dangerous hobby for them and for their horses. There are some basic safety tips that needs to be followed so that you will enjoy the fun and the relaxation provided with this amazing sport activity.
Head and foot injury are among the most common safety problems for new riders. A hemlet must be used any time you ride a horse so that your head is protected in case of a fall. To prevent your foot being stuck with the stirrups, you need to put on proper foot wear.
The second issue to look for to ensure your safety is the seat. The stirrups length should be suitable for your legs. The bridle needs to be in good condition and not damaged. Finally, the saddle should be both firmly attached to the strap and has a tight girth so that it does not slip while riding. All of these need to be checked to make sure your seat is safe for riding.
Horses may get scared at any time, even if you were a professional rider. Always ask someone to be with you when riding. Make it a rule not to ride a horse without the presence of people around you. In case of a fall or any other emergency, there will be someone to help you.
To fully enjoy your horse riding sessions, you need to have the horse moving as naturally as possible. This can be done by you sitting straight up on the horse and looking towards where you are going. The horse will be off balance if you lean to one side or to the other while you are in your saddle. So, remain straight up in order not to hinder your horse movement. You should also look to where you are going because doing so will make the horse remain straight and in proper position. Not looking where you are going may also cause accidents with others riding near you.
To prevent your horse pulling back and ignoring your cues, you need to make sure it keeps moving forward. This can be done by putting more leg pressure on the bridle than hand pressure. If you keep pulling the reins, your horse will eventually not follow any cues you give him to stop or slow down and may start pulling back.
When you are done with riding, always use the left side to dismount. Un-tack the horse and give a very good groom so that your horse enjoys the experience. This way, you will ensure your next riding will be enjoyable by you and by your horse.
